Turning Our Eyes

Look away! The world is breaking, crying out for relief from the pain. Our motivation is to watch and break along with it.

But we are in the world not of it.

Look away! Turn your eyes!

Our help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth; who did not spare His only Son, but gave Him up to suffer the wrath of sin so that we’d have life, and have it to the full.

Greater love has none that this: that He should lay down His life for us.

Love. Love that can be trusted. Love that’s true.

It’s time, time to turn our eyes. Fix our gaze. Seek after the fullness of the One who loves us with an everlasting love.

Turn Your Eyes

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus; Look full in His wonderful face

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

In the light of His glory and grace.”

Yes, we are pressed on every side by troubles

But not crushed.

We are knocked down to the ground

But not destroyed.

These light and momentary troubles cannot compare

To the glory of eternity with our Lord.

And I know

With Jesus as my Shepherd

I lack no good thing.

My cup overflows with blessings!

His rod and staff protect me and comfort me.

He leads me along right paths

And lets me rest in green pastures beside still waters.

As I quiet my heart before the Lord

I hear Him say:

Be strong and courageous!

Do not be afraid!

I have not given you a spirit of fear

But of power and love and a sound mind.

And I am certain

That God – who began a good work in me –

Is faithful to complete it.

Because of His great love for me

I was not consumed by the mire on my journey

For He lifted me out of the pit of despair

And set my feet on solid ground.

Steadying me as I walk along,

He’s put a new song of praise within me.

My heart is confident in your faithfulness, Oh God.

And this hope in your faithfulness gives me courage.

Yes, surely His goodness and mercy will follow me

All the days of my life.

And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

“His word shall not fail you, He promised Believe Him and all will be well Then go to a world that is dying His perfect salvation to tell”

“[Oh] Turn your eyes upon Jesus; Look full in His wonderful face

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

In the light of His glory and grace.”
