Another Silent Night

Christmas bulbs are twinkling
Somewhat merry and bright
As I stare outside my window
On another silent night

The daily hustle’s faded
The tots are off to sleep
Still restless thoughts run rampant
In this world of sorrows deep

The wind whistles angrily
And I recognize its plight
As I stare outside my window
On this other silent night

Emotions whip me to and fro
I’m desperate for relief
So I close my eyes and whisper
Lord, help my unbelief!

When Love came down from heaven
And in a manger lay
The glad tidings were for all who’d choose
To trust Him and obey

Trust Him with their messy hearts
So sin-stained and so ill
Obey Him, not their fickle flesh
So tempest-tossed and frail

Each step of faith to see beyond
And walk with hope assured
Is freedom from the chains that bind,
God’s given us His Word!

So come what may I rise up tall
On another silent night
Intent to worship and adore
The Way, the Truth, the Life!

O Silent Night
Most Holy Night
When all was calm
And God’s love shone bright

A baby born, Emmanuel
A light for all to see
Inviting the weary and wounded
To come find all they need
