Anxiety Fled

The tension builds like bile
Trembling, she might soon faint
Run and hide!
Panic!
Help!

She sits still and remembers

You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.

The words churn
Looking for a place to settle

Perfect peace

She knows this perfect peace
She’s testified to its faithful presence before

Stayed

The work of faith
The action
She has a choice

Her stayed mind is the place where peace dwells
Her frantic spirit wars against such truth

But she has a choice
And she chooses to abide

Opening the Word
She reads
She reflects

Deeper
More assuredly

The words come alive
Nourishing her soul

She pauses in this place of perfect peace

Her body is at rest
The turmoil is gone

Shocked?
Pleasantly.
She knows she shouldn’t be…

Anxiety opposes God’s rest
Opposes God’s Spirit

She smiles as she recites aloud

Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you

Yes, anxiety fled when she chose the Words of Life

Anxiety fled
