Abundant Life,  Scripture Poetry

How quickly our hearts get led astray on a tangent of unrest. How tumultuous are our emotions, rocking us as wind to waves on the sea and threatening to capsize our hearts beyond repair.

Be settled, Dear Friends, in the Word of God. Hear His Promises for you today and receive your daily nourishment from the Bread of Life, Himself.

Give your burdens to the Lord

And He will take care of you.

He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

“I know all the things you do

And I have opened a door for you that no one can close.

You have little strength

Yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.

I am coming soon. Hold onto what you have

So that no one will take away your crown.”

“The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy

But I have come that you might have life

And have it to the full.”

Listen, Dear Ones:

“Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom

Or the powerful boast in their power

Or the rich boast in their riches.

But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone:

That they truly know me

And understand that I am the Lord

Who demonstrates unfailing love

And who brings justice and righteousness to the earth

And that I delight in these things.”

I will choose

To fix my thoughts

On what is true and honorable and right

Pure and lovely and admirable

I will choose

To think about things that are excellent

And worthy of praise

Because God will supply for all my needs

From His glorious riches,

Which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

For the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead

Lives in me!

And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead

He will give life to my mortal body

By this same Spirit living within me.

In fact

Together with Christ

I am an heir to God’s glory.

But if I am to share in His glory

I must also share in His suffering.

We, as believers, groan (along with creation)

Even though we have the Holy Spirit within us

As a foretaste of future glory.

And we wait with eager hope.

If we already have something

We don’t need to hope for it.

But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have

We must wait patiently and confidently.

The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness;

For the Spirit pleads for us believers

In harmony with God’s own will.

And we know

That God causes everything

To work together for the good

Of those who love Him and are called

According to His purpose for them.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?

Does it mean He no longer loves us

If we have trouble or calamity?

Or are persecuted or hungry or destitute?

Or are in danger or threatened with death?

Despite all these things

Overwhelming victory is ours

Through Jesus Christ whom loves us!

That nothing can ever separate us

From God’s love.

And I can boast all the more gladly

About my weaknesses

So that Christ’s power will rest on me.

That when I am weak –

He is strong!

And I can do all things

Through Christ Jesus whom strengthens me!
