Dear Friends – are you weary today? Is the weight of the world on your shoulders?
That always sounded like a silly expression to me. But it’s kind of making sense these days…
Living in this world makes for a lot of weight-bearing. There’s so much disease, so much violence, so much hurt, and so much heart-ache. Being human means experiencing the wonder of so many highs, but also the pain and weight of so many lows.
HEAR THE WORDS OF JESUS
“…Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 NLT
Raise your hand if you know what “Take Heart” really means…I know I wouldn’t have been able to without a little investigation…
Sorry, no prizes…
Just extra doses of awesomeness as we can work through it further together. (Wink wink)
“…but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]…” (John 16:33 AMP)
I’ll just pause here for a second, because…wow!!!!
Be Undaunted! (Okay okay, another more complex word. Let’s say fearlessly steadfast instead…)
Be filled with joy!
Can Jesus honestly ask us to do, to be, all these things. Right here. Right now? Does He not see all that we are walking through? Does He not realize the state of the world right now?
Um. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. And Yes…
We can be confident in our hope. We can be steadfastly fearless in our faith. We can be filled with joy despite our circumstances.
Because of the Holy Spirit alive and at work in us.
His power is made perfect in our weakness, Friends!
In other words, when we surrender the me-factor, we get the He-factor.
In every situation we are more than conquerors because of Christ Jesus.
Take Heart! (Read more about Jesus as our Living Hope here and the Overwhelming Victory we have access to here).
May the Peace of Christ which transcends all understanding guard your hearts and minds. May you find the strength to look up, and therein see Jesus’ finished work at the Cross. May the knowledge that the battle is already won sustain you in all things, so that you can walk forward in confidence, steadfast fearlessness, and joy!
